John Curley, Thomas Curley Plumbing & Heating - The 7-Power Contractor

Clear Idea of What Needs to Change

As a result of the Planning Power! consultation with Al Levi, I now have a clear idea of everything that needs to change and a time frame in which to do it. In the six weeks since Al’s visit, I’ve been able to clean up the 2nd floor and create a meeting room, and begin cleaning the basement and garages to create training and warehouse spaces. Excess stock will be returned to suppliers for cash or credit. The techs will have a new room to do their paperwork, and there will be one central area for the warehouse.

The phones are able to hunt now. That means that instead of staring at the phone and wondering whether to answer it, the phone rings first at the CSR desk, then the A/R desk, and finally at my desk – and I know to answer it then. The phones are also now able to stack calls. That means that the caller gets a message saying “Thank you for calling Thomas Curley Plumbing & Heating. Your call is very important to us. Please remain on the line as calls are answered in the order they are received. We’ll be with you shortly.” This avoids busy signals or phones that ring endlessly before being answered.

A uniform truck stock list has been assembled and the trucks are being reorganized to a standard layout. Work will be starting on Financial Power! and Al is coming back to help us create our new Thomas Curley Operations Manual.
